Over 50 volunteers assist with the twice daily care of the horses and organizational activity; a large number are engaged in leadership and administrative tasks.  We are continually grateful for their commitment to the care of the horses and our sustainability.

March 11, 2015

The past few months have seen many changes at Circle F, not the least of which was bidding long standing manager, Walter Paetkau, a fond farewell as he steps into retirement. I would like to recognize Walter not only for his extensive contribution to the rescue but also for his generous assistance during the transition from his leadership to mine. Walter has once again shown his sterling character in every aspect of our work together! I wish Walter a pleasant and fulfilling retirement, and thank him once again for his tireless efforts on behalf of the Circle F Horse Rescue Society.

I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to work with Circle F in the capacity of operations manager, and look forward to many years of working towards maintaining and improving the level of care we afford to our horses; all of whom are the most important aspect of any rescue! While I officially took over operations in September 2014, I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting many of our donors & other participants, so I am hoping to do so throughout the course of 2015.  Circle F has been present at several wonderful events in the past, and we have plans to increase the number of events for 2015, along with some other plans soon to be shared. I would like to extend the offer to all of our wonderful donors and supporters to contact me directly with any questions or comments, and I hope we can all meet very soon.

Circle F could not possibly function as it does were it not for the invaluable assistance and unwavering commitment from our volunteers. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with each and every one, and look forward to creating many happy memories together in the future!

The Vancouver Foundation provided a grant of $3,700 to engage a consultant over a six month period to assist in reviewing our direction and future planning. This review included development of strategies to continue the sustainability of Circle F. We express our warm thanks for the grant which was drawn from the Doreen Martin Margetts Fund for Animal Care.

The BC Gaming Commission provided a grant of $5,000 in March 2014 against operating costs and a grant of $5,000 in November toward operating costs in 2015.

Increased attention will be given to strengthening our donor and support base.
